Friday 03/27/20 Ride

Fellow Riders,

  • I'm not able to lead a ride this week.  If there are some that want to ride, I would suggest meeting at Key Mart for our regular 10:30 am ride time.  Maybe someone will get creative and pick a restaurant with curb side delivery and you can eat sitting on yur bikes.  Hope to be back riding next week.  Steve
Okay.  Who's going to lead?

  • Update from Gary - Steve, I will be happy to lead tomorrow.  Assuming NC, is not locked down yet, I was thinking of heading up to Cashiers and going to Randevu, for takeout (as of this morning they are offering curbside menu)  Anyone not wanting takeout, can bring a sandwich and drink, and we will lunch at our bikes in the parking lot.  If someone has a better option, that would be great.  Please pass along to the group.

Friday 03/20/2020 Ride

Fellow Riders,

  • Due to an electrical problem with my bike, I won't be able to lead a ride this Friday.  On top of that, with restaurants closed to inside dining, we'll have to rethink our normal routine.  I would suggest meeting at Key Mart at 10:30 am, and try to come up with a follow-the-leader ride that ends with everyone dispersing for home, or the drive-up window at a fast food joint.  If yo do ride, be sure to practice social distancing, which we already do with our staggered formation...  I hope to be back in the saddle next week.  Steve

Friday 03/13/2020 Ride

Fellow Riders,

  • Given that this coming Friday is the 13th, I'm assuming anything is possible regarding the weather.  Despite that, I think I'll head to Anderson and the Eggs Up Grille for some lunch/breakfast food.  If the weather does look worse, I'll send out an email Friday morning and we can meet for a 9 am, breakfast at Sisters.  Assuming the weather cooperates, we'll plan on leaving the Key Mart parking area at 10:30 am.  Hope it's dry and we get to ride.    Steve
  • Update Friday 03/13 - I'm optimistic that if we leave at 11 am, we should miss the rain.  If it's worth the risk to you, we'll plan on leaving the Key Mart parking area at 11 am.   Steve

  • Well, the rain did hold off for an 11 am, ride, but my battery decided the it had served long enough, and would no longer start the motorcycle. Ugh!!  There were three other riders waiting for the ride, Dan, Gary, and Bob B., and they decided to head to the Farm Cafe outside of Seneca.  What a Friday the 13th!!

Friday 03/062020 Ride

Fellow Riders,

  • After last Fridays' nice sunny weather turned in to some cold gray skies and a few sprinkles on our ride home, I'm nervous to say this coming Friday looks to be a decent day.  I thought I'd take my chances and head to Chattooga Belle Farm for some lunch.  They're still on winter hours and fortunately, that includes lunch on a Friday.  If that sounds like a good ride to you, we'll plan on leaving the Key Mart parking area at 10:30 am.  Hope to see you there.      Steve
  • It turned out to be a pretty nice day for a trip to Chattooga Bell Farm.  Joining me were Rob, Steve G., Kevin, Ed, Dan, Neil, Doug, Lesley, David D., Denny, and Len.  We drove a familiar route to arrive for lunch and thanks to a call ahead by Paulette, they had a table set up for us.  Our server took our drink orders and we slowly received them with a little help from another server.  The meals came out a little slowly, but that's expected when you have a large group.  Everyone seemed to enjoy the meals and certainly the view.  After lunch, I was trying to take an interesting route, but I apparently missed seeing a road closed notice on Hwy 76.  I came upon the road closed sign on Cobb Bridge road and assumed I would have to turn around.  Rounding a curve, I saw that the road closed about 100 feet from the sign.  Fortunately, there was a street where we could turn around.  I wasn't expecting that one.  Even with an unplanned u-turn, it was another great day on two wheels.   Steve

Friday 02/28/20 Ride

Fellow Riders,

  • I'm looking at the forecast for Friday, and I'm glad it's looking like a dry and sunny day.  I'm planning to go to the Earle Street Kitchen and Bar (not CafĂ©) in Anderson for lunch.  If you're up for this ride, We'll plan on leaving the Key Mart parking area at 10:30 am.  Hope to see you there.    Steve
  • Today started out just like the forecast indicated on Wednesday - lots of sun and maybe hitting 50 degrees.  However, things change and by the time we were ready to leave, we knew we should take the shortest route home due to green blobs on the weather radar heading for Seneca. Joining me today were Steve G., Gary, Denny, Kevin, and Terry.  Riding along with us in a car were Bill - looks to be recovering very well, and Pat.  We took a nice ride around the outskirts of Anderson to avoid the always heavy traffic.  Thanks to a call ahead by Paulette, a table for eight awaited us.  This was a first time for this restaurant and they did a nice job with both the service and food.  We really didn't have a long wait for our food which varied from Steve G's (must have been 4 pound) meatloaf sandwich to fish tacos.  Everyone seemed to like the food.  As mentioned, we took a shorter route home than I had planned, but we still hit sprinkles along the way.  Steve G. was heading for Greenville, but he might have seen a bit more rain.  It was totally overcast and colder for the ride home, but still a great day on two wheels.   Steve
A little rustic looking on the outside,
but very cool on the inside.
