Friday 3/01/13 Ride

  Although the Friday weather forecast is not real warm, it’s not frigid and it’s not raining, so I’m planning to ride.  I think I’ll ride on down to Anderson (via Fair Play) and eat some lunch at McGee’s Irish Pub.  If that sounds like something you would like to do let’s plan to leave the Key Mart parking area about 10:30 AM on Friday.

• Today's ride included Dan, Larry, me, Len, Dave, Pete, Murray, Bob, and Ed.  The temperature made it to about 50 by the time we reached our destination in Anderson.  It was another scenic ride through the country and where we occasionally got glances from the angus grazing in the fields.  The sun kept us warmer than we were expecting today.  The Blue Plate special of salmon cakes was a popular choice today as the Irish music played in the background.  The service was very good and we had a guard watching over the table (see picture below). Another great day on two wheels.    Steve

Friday 2/22/13 Ride

  I hate to say it but Friday is showing a very good chance for rain all day so I am not planning to ride unless the forecast changes.  If you want to ride in the rain, please ride safe.

• Well, Dan had faith in the forecast, and it proved to be true :(.....  Hopefully, next week Mother Nature will give us the green light to get back on the road with only two wheels and no need for rain gear.    Steve

Friday 2/15/13 Ride

  I hope I’m not jumping the gun again this week with the weather, but because we bailed on going to Hartwell last week I’m going to try it again, and plan on going to the Waterfall Grill at the Cateechee Golf Course near Hartwell, GA.  Let’s plan to leave the Key Mart parking area about 10:30 AM Friday Morning.  Hope you can make it.

• Well, third time was a charm.  The riders, 11 in total, were Dan, Leslie, Larry, Mark, Len, Steve, Mel, Dave, Murray, Denny, and Paul, had a fabulous day for a ride into Georgia.  Dan's persistence paid off and he led us through the countryside and passed the Lake Hartwell dam to our destination.  The Waterfall Grille was most accommodating and had us all sitting around a large table.  It sure looked like some of the other customers weren't sure what to make of a bunch of guys on motorcycles coming into the country club atmosphere.  The food was great, loved the crab cake sliders and sweet potato fries. I headed off to Anderson for a new tire and everyone else made their way back to Keowee Key and points beyond.  As always, another great day on two wheels.

Friday 2/08/13 Ride

  The weather got in the way the last time I planned this so let’s try again to have some lunch at the Waterfall Grill, which is at the Cateechee Golf Course near Hartwell, GA.  If you think you might want to go there, let’s plan to leave the Key Mart parking area about 10:30 AM this Friday.  Hope you can make it.  Dan

• Well, a big green blob on the radar looked to be heading for Hartwell, so an audible was called to ride to the Cafe at Williams Hardware in Travelers Rest.  It was a great ride for Dan, Larry, Leslie, Len, myself, and Bob, as we meandered through the countryside to our destination.  The sky was a little threatening, but we just kept moving.  The folks at the Cafe gave us our own private room - in the basement.  I'm sure that was not because we were a "gang" of bikers.  The food was great, and the ambience provided by the electric fireplace and the crooning of Frank Sinatra was superb. The staff continuously checked on us, though some wondered if they were afraid we were going to trash the joint, or it was their goal to make sure we had good service. Another great day on two wheels.   Steve
