Friday 3/27/15 Ride

Fellow Riders,

  • As usual, Friday’s forecast is calling for a slight chance of rain, which could change either way by Friday.  So, I’m going to plan a ride to Toccoa, GA for some lunch at BJ’s Restaurant.  If the roads are dry enough and the skies look OK, that’s what I’ll do and I hope you can join me.  If not, might have to change the plan come Friday.    Dan
  • Friday Ride - Wet Roads Not For Me - There is likely to be a window of opportunity without rain today, but unlikely the roads will dry up much, so I’m going to save my ride for better conditions.  Ride safe.   Dan

  • Well, there was only one of our regular riders that saw a rainy forecast as an opportunity.  You can probably guess who.  As I sat comfortably in my warm, dry home, I heard the unmistakable rumble of Mr. Orange Glove's two wheel beast head up the street.  It seems Bob wanted to take advantage of another bike wash opportunity.  It had been several weeks since many of us had to ride back from Pendleton in a heavy rain, and the dull luster of Bob's last bike wash was fading.  This was enough incentive for Bob to get the bike out and search for just the right amount of mist to loosen the grime.  It took about an hour and I heard the rumble again as Bob headed back down the street, having achieved his goal.  This was not another great day on two wheels for the rest of us, but Bob thought it was.   Hoping for a warm and dry Friday - Steve

Wednesday (Not Friday) 3/20/15 Ride

Fellow Riders,

  • Because Friday is again tending to look sloppy depending on which weather prediction I look at, I have decided to try and reduce my anxiety levels and just go ahead and get my ride fix in this Wednesday which is supposed to be much nicer.  Therefore my plan is to ride on down to Anderson, SC for some lunch at Summo Joe’s, leaving here about 11:00 AM.  If you would like to join me this Wednesday, let’s plan to leave the Key Mart parking area about 11 AM.  I know this schedule change won’t work for everyone but I hope you can join me.   Dan

Friday 3/13/15 Ride

Fellow Riders,

  • Another Friday and the forecast is calling for mostly rain and cold temperatures so I am not planning a ride at this time.  Those still wishing to ride should meet at the Key Mart parking area and select a destination and ride leader at that time.   Dry Dan
Happy Rainy Frickin' Friday the 13th!!!!!

Friday 3/06/15 Ride

Fellow Riders,

  • What’s with the weather on Fridays?  Every other day is nice.  Whatever!!!  I’m going to ride if the roads are dry by 11:00 AM, even if it is just to Pendleton to the Village Bakery CafĂ©.  If you would like to brave the cold and join me, let’s plan to leave the Key Mart parking area about 11:00 AM this Friday.  Bundle up again.   Dan
John says, "OK Pilgrims!!  You know real bikers wouldn't run off to Florida, or stay inside because of a little ice and snow.  So, I BETTER see ya' out there this Friday, Rory you'll be hearin' from ME!!

  • It turned out to be an okay weather day for "The Magnificent Seven" that met at Key Mart today.  The ride took us through the Pickens and Anderson County countryside, where the cows and horses were still looking wooly.  They seated us in the bakery, I'm sure to test our resolve to not be tempted by the pastries.  The food was good as usual, and the service was as usual also - not that great.  It appears the server we've had the last couple visits doesn't want to be there. Dan took us on a nice long ride back, including a couple loops on, coincidentally, Return Church Road.  Overall, it was great to get out after two weeks with no ride, and, another great day on two wheels.      Steve
