- Friday’s forecast is calling for a slight chance of rain but maybe we will get lucky so I am going to cross my fingers and plan a ride up to the Dutch Cupboard in Etowah, NC. If you would like to join me let’s plan to leave the Key Mart parking area about 10:30 AM. Hope we don’t get wet. Dan
The Dutch Cupboard
- Six riders, including Dan, came to Key Mart this morning, believing a "slight" chance of rain meant it is not likely to rain. The other hopeful riders included David D., me, Steve G., Gadget, and Len. We started out on Hwy 183, took a jaunt through Pickens County, and back through Pickens as we continued to head north and east. As we made our way north, and the clouds began to thicken and darken, we were beginning to question the somewhat optimistic forecast. Dan's route took us on some very gently sweeping curves around Flat Rock as we continued toward Etowah. It began to appear that the obvious rain clouds were beginning to track us down, and sure enough, a few miles before The Dutch Cupboard, the rains came. We were all sufficiently wet by the time we got to our destination. The restaurant was a typical meat and three and we had a good server to get us some hot coffee and our meals. A couple riders did try some of their home made pies and weren't disappointed. The ride home was on some familiar roads and we filled up at Dunham's to make sure we're ready for the next great day on two wheels. Steve
