Friday 1/31/14 Ride

Fellow Riders,

  • It may not seem like it now but Friday is forecast to be a decent day for a ride, so I’m planning to scoot on down to Anderson, SC for some lunch at the Pompous Pig BBQ.  If you want to join me let’s plan to leave the Key Mart parking area about 10:30 AM this Friday morning.  Hope you can make it.   Dan

  • Sorry for the late notice but I have decided not to venture out on the motorcycle tomorrow (Friday).  Having been out and about this evening (in the car) I have found the roads to still be covered with sand and salt dust in many areas, as well as melting stuff causing wet roads, especially rural roads.  Having a new bike, I can’t have it dirty and my wife says she will not clean any sand or salt off my bike if I insist on taking it out.  So I am not.  If you still want to ride, meet at the Key Mart parking area at 10:30 AM and select a destination and ride leader at that time.  Please do not attempt to exit or enter the complex via the maintenance road as the curvy shaded parts of the road are still slush covered and frozen.  Ride safe.   Dan
Didn't want this to be any of us.

Did anyone ride?

Friday 1/24/14 Ride

Fellow Riders,

  • Sorry, never thought I’d say this but it’s just too darn cold for me.  I’m not planning a ride for Friday cause it’s not supposed to reach the freezing point until later in the day, which is just plain silly.  If you still want to ride you can meet at the Key Mart parking area about 10:30 AM (21 degrees) and select a destination and ride leader at that time.  Ride safe.     Dan
Hang in there Dan.....

  • Well,  what can you say. Last year it was a lot of rain, and this year it's the cold.  Fortunately, they didn't come at the same time.  And remember, there is always next week.    Steve
This tells the story....
Hmmm, not exactly a scorching forecast.

Friday 1/17/14 Ride

Fellow Riders,

  • Friday’s forecast shows a slight chance for rain but not very warm.  I’m hoping it will stay dry and if we start an hour later we can have it be just a little warmer.  Plus I plan to stay closer to the ranch by working our way over to Westminster and try out a place Bob Mck mentioned, Puerto Nuevo Restaurant.  If you want to brave the cold, let’s plan to leave the Key Mart parking area about 11:30 AM this Friday.    I’m really hoping Friday is a good ride day because I want to try out my new scoot.  I traded in my old bike for a new one with NO STUDS.  Although there doesn’t seem to be any place on the bike to put a stud, I haven’t given up yet.   Dan

Looks like this is the one!!!

  • There were seven of us that waited anxiously to see the new "scoot" Dan is riding.  Although the bike is cool and awesome, there were some non-biker terms used like pretty and cute to describe the CVO Softail Deluxe.  This may cause some of us to have our biker cards revoked.  Another feature that got a lot of attention was the "air-flow" feature in the passenger pillion.  You had to be there.  The one hour delay did add a few degrees to the temperature and was appreciated.  The seven followers of Dan's new ride were Gadget, Len, Rob, me, Russ, Murray, and Bob.  Kevin met us at our destination in Westminster to bring the total to nine.  Before we went in to Puerto Nuevo, Bob got a few of us a personal tour of the recently opened Westminster Music Hall, courtesy of the owner, Ray.  He gave us a good sales pitch and encouraged us to come back for the show tonight.  Meanwhile, back at Puerto, we enjoyed some good Mexican cuisine.  Next time I go there, I'm taking Len's advice and trying the chicken soup. The food and service was good.  The return trip was uneventful and the temps were continuing to move up, which was good, because the wind was picking up as well.  It was another great day on two wheels.   Steve

Friday 1/10/14 Ride

Fellow Riders,

  • Currently the forecast is showing a fair chance for the possibility of rain, so I am not planning a ride at this time.  For those that still wish to ride, plan to meet at the Key Mart parking area about 10:30 AM and select a destination and ride leader at that time.  I hope to be thawed out by then.   Dan

  • Well, the rain never stopped on Friday, and I didn't even hear Bob go by to get his bike washed.  Here's hoping we get some dry weather next Friday.   Steve

Friday 1/3/14 Ride

Fellow Riders,

  • Friday’s forecast calls for no chance of rain but just plain silly cold.  Since I moved from the north to SC so I could ride all year, I just can’t believe it can be that cold.  Therefore my plan is too keep it short and just ride on over to Michael’s Restaurant in Pickens for some lunch.  I’m hoping that will be better than not riding at all.  If there are any hearty (hungry) souls who would like to join me, let’s plan to leave the Key Mart parking area about 10:30 AM.  Hope to see you then and bundle up.  Dan

  • I wasn't able to make the cold ride to Pickens, but I did head up to Highlands where the water was frozen and snow was all around.  Not sure who made the cold trip to Michaels, but I've not heard of any missing or frozen KK Motorcycle riders.   Steve
